Geoff has been training in ECKA since 1987, gaining his 1st Dan Black Belt in 1992, 2nd Dan in 1998, and 3rd Dan in 2003 (with a Grade A-). In 2010 he was awarded his 4th Dan Black Belt by ECKA.

Geoff is an EKF Qualified Instructor (since 1999, originally with the EKGB) who has run the Bletchley club since 1999.
Geoff has been training under his instructor Sensei Dev Barrett since 1988 and has also trained with other notable instructors; Ray Hoffman, Mark Featherstone, Geoff Thompson, Ronnie Green, Howard Brown, Junior Anderson & Jean Frenette.
Geoff is fully qualified in Sports First Aid, a Registered Coach in Milton Keynes and has a up to date Enhanced CRB check.
He is a full member of Sports Coach UK and has completed the following workshops:
- A Guide To Mentoring Sports Coaches
- Good Practice and Child Protection
- Working with Children
- Injury Prevention and Management
Geoff became an International referee in the 2006 WPKA World Championships, refereeing and judging in the Light Continuous and Semi-contact categories, including a number of World Championship finals! In 2008 he was awarded his 'A' class referee status from the ECKA.

He has undertaken some training in Jujitsu, and currently holds the grade of 6th Kyu, with the British Jujitsu Association.
Geoff is also a member of Team Milton Keynes Triathlon Club and in July 2009 completed a full Ironman distance triathlon (3.8km swim, 180km cycle and 42km run) in 11:53:27, raising over £1,500 for cancer research for this event! Full report available.
